De Auditor
As a concerned Nigerian who believes in credible leadership and genuine opposition, I have watched the African Democratic Congress (ADC) struggle with leadership tussles, court cases, and internal divisions. The recent Supreme Court ruling restoring Senator David Mark’s team is a step forward, but the party still faces a bigger question: How can ADC become a united, formidable force that Nigerians can trust in 2027?
Here is my humble, intellectual yet very simple and implementable solution:
1. Immediate Unity Convention
Convene a broad-based National Unity Convention within the next 30–45 days. Invite all factions, including the Mark-led leadership, state executives, Peter Obi’s structure, and other key stakeholders. The sole agenda should be reconciliation and ratification of a unified leadership while respecting court judgments. No winner-takes-all — adopt a consensus model for key positions.
2. Clear Zoning & Primaries Framework
Publicly zone the presidential ticket to the Southeast (in favour of Peter Obi) for the sake of equity, national balance, and to harness the massive youth and middle-class energy he commands. Announce a transparent, direct primary system with biometric verification and independent observers. This removes suspicion of manipulation and gives every member a voice.
3. Independent Conflict Resolution Panel
Set up a neutral, respected panel of eminent Nigerians (retired judges, traditional rulers, and non-partisan elders) to mediate all remaining disputes. This panel should have a clear timeline and publish its recommendations openly. This builds public confidence and reduces reliance on endless court battles.
4. Focus on Policy & Membership Drive
Shift energy from internal fighting to massive membership registration, policy document development, and grassroots mobilisation. Peter Obi’s strength lies in his integrity, frugality, and ability to connect with ordinary Nigerians. Let the party rally around his vision of a “new Nigeria” — security, education, job creation, and accountability.
Why This Solution Favours Obi (and Nigeria)
Peter Obi is not just a politician — he represents the aspiration of millions of young Nigerians who want competence over connections. He has consistently shown he can manage resources, reduce waste, and inspire hope. Most Nigerians want him as the face of the opposition in 2027. A united ADC with Obi as the presidential candidate can consolidate anti-incumbent votes and give this country a real chance at redemption.
My name is Christian James Unya, and this is my honest opinion: ADC must choose unity over ego, competence over sentiment, and the people’s will over personal ambition. If the party implements these simple steps, it will not only resolve its crisis but also position itself as the credible alternative Nigerians desperately need.
The ball is in ADC’s court. Time is not on anyone’s side.
What do you think, Auditors? Is this solution workable? Should Peter Obi be the ADC flagbearer in 2027? Drop your civil and constructive comments below. Let’s discuss with patriotism.
