Yes, it is me.
I couldn’t care less how VDM chooses to spend his NGO funds. However, I will not keep quiet while people spread dangerous financial illiteracy.
It is time to dismantle the illusion.
The Hard Truth There is practically no functional difference between a personal account and an NGO account in terms of access and control. The only real difference is the paperwork used to open them. Both accounts ultimately belong to the same person — the one with the signature power.
Months ago, VDM proudly announced that after a late-night meeting, he was offered millions (5 million or more) and chose to put it in his NGO account instead of his personal account. He framed it as proof of integrity. His followers cheered.
But let’s be honest: Choosing which of your own pockets to put money into does not equal integrity. Whether the money sits in a personal account or an NGO account, the man holding the keys remains the same.
The Trustees Myth Many followers quickly shouted that an NGO has Trustees who provide checks and balances. This is mostly fantasy. In most private NGOs, Trustees are often family members or close friends added just to fulfill registration requirements. They are not independent watchdogs. The founder remains the alpha and omega of the organization.
Recent Proof When VDM recently moved ₦100 million from the NGO account to invest in Bonds, did he call an emergency Board of Trustees meeting? Did he seek approval from anyone? No. He made a unilateral decision — the same way anyone would move money from their personal account.
Truth Delivered Stop the brainwashing. Putting money in an NGO account does not magically make it untouchable or more transparent. The power of signature still lies with one man. If the founder wants to spend it, he will spend it. The optics may look good, but the control remains the same.
VDM is free to run his NGO however he likes. My problem is with the followers who turn simple financial reality into “messiah” narratives and attack anyone who dares to explain how the system actually works.
This is not about VDM alone. It is about the dangerous illusion many Nigerians swallow without questioning. An NGO account is not a sacred vault. It is still your account if you are the founder.
De Auditor has spoken.
Auditors, over to you. Do you believe putting money in an NGO account automatically equals integrity? Or is it just smart optics? Drop your honest thoughts in the comments. Let’s discuss with facts, not emotions.
