Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team, the Falconets, got off to a flying start in their 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier. They defeated Malawi 2-0 in the first leg at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
Match Breakdown An own goal by Malawi’s Maureen Kenneth in the 46th minute gave the Falconets the lead. Then, Kindness Ifeanyi added a beautiful second goal eight minutes later to make it 2-0.
The Falconets dominated most of the game and created many scoring chances. Captain Igbokwe and the entire team showed great control and fighting spirit against a tough Malawi side.

What This Means This strong victory gives Nigeria a commanding lead ahead of the second leg in Lilongwe on May 9. With four slots available for Africa at the 2026 tournament in Poland, the Falconets are now in a very good position to qualify.
