Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has defended his stance on working with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), despite corruption allegations trailing some of its stakeholders.
He asserted that engaging such individuals provides an opportunity to positively influence and reform them, if found guilty.
Speaking during an interview on Magic FM Aba in Abia State, Peter Obi argued that security agencies practice selective justice, adding that some people who have committed worse crimes are still free.

Obi drew a biblical parallel, citing Jesus Christ, whom he said associated with tax collectors and prostitutes in a bid to transform them.
“When Jesus came here, his friends were tax collectors and prostitutes because it’s all part of what he was trying to change. It was all part of what he was trying to build as a person,” Obi said.
He also claimed that some of those currently facing corruption allegations are victims of political persecution.
“Most of them are actually facing persecution, because yesterday, they were the people who were saints,” he added.
Obi specifically mentioned former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, questioning why they are now being targeted.
“Everybody knows the contributions of Malami and El-Rufai to the present government. So why are they being persecuted?” he asked.
“The law is very selectively applied… people who have done worse are moving around like stars, while this government is busy targeting those they think are political opponents,” he added.
