Relief for the families! 🙏
Three young men who were kidnapped at Obagie, Siloko side, Benin City have finally been released.
What We Know
- The victims were released after their families paid a ransom of about ₦18.5 million.
- The kidnapping happened at Obagie area along the Siloko axis.
- According to sources, the kidnappers are being run by Aboki (northerners) operating inside Benin City, not from any village.
Truth Delivered This is good news that the boys are back alive, but the story itself is painful. Paying huge ransoms continues to encourage more kidnapping in Edo State. Criminals now see it as easy money.
It is very important that security agencies intensify efforts to crush these kidnapper networks operating inside Benin City. People should stop paying ransom if possible and report every case immediately to the police.
To those advising that people should kill kidnappers and video their faces — that is dangerous and can lead to more problems. The best thing is to hand over any kidnapper caught to the police for proper investigation and prosecution.
Message to the Government & Security Edo State must do more. Kidnapping is becoming a thriving business in and around Benin City. The people are tired.
We congratulate the families on the safe return of their loved ones. May God protect every young person in Edo State.
